Introduction

Rich in history and founded in camaraderie, The Showmen’s League of America is a community of showpeople - both men and women - dedicated to service and fellowship. By providing scholarships, financial aid and memorial services, we promote the mutual welfare of our members and all showpeople, in good times and bad.  By maintaining our traditions, we honor the legacy of those who have come before us.  By welcoming new members from all areas of the amusement industry, we build a strong future. We invite you to our website and to join us, to share our mission, and join in friendship with some of the greatest men and women in the world.

The Showmen's League of America was founded in 1913, by a group of outdoor showmen meeting at the Saratoga Hotel in Chicago. Buffalo Bill Cody, the Wild West performer, was elected the Club's first President. The Showmen's League of America is the oldest organization of its type in North America.

President Mike Featherston’s 2010 Message:

It's hard to believe that we are on the back side of the season already and the convention is rapidly approaching, but it is!  The year has flown by with so many activities involving the League it's hard to keep track of them all.

We have recently completed a very succesful promotion and fund raiser in the Showmen's League of America Day T-Shirt event, courtesy of Mary Johnson and my wife Connie Featherston.  If you are one of those who participated, please send pictures!

Another event is nearing completion as the Beauty Vs. The Beast contest is scheduled for September 26th.

We are also working hard to finalize the purchase of the building selected by Paul Kasin's committee to be the new National Headquarters of the Showmen's League.  We have high hopes that this will be completed soon and that the League will have a place all members can be proud of, and where our archives and memorabalia can be proudly displayed.  More on that later...

Finally, the Convention schedule is coming together nicely.  We'll be at the Paris & Bally's hotels in Las Vegas November 28 to December 1.  Our Trade Show is Monday & Tuesday from 11 to 4.  Annual Meeting is Tuesday morning at 9:00, but I encourage everyone to show up as early as 8AM for a casual meet & greet over coffee.  Skyview 1 Ballroom at Bally's is the place.  Also Tuesday evening is the Reach for the Stars Banquet which promises to be a lot of fun.  Come join us!  Call the office for details.
